Minnie Mouse Birthday Party

Every year after Christmas I ask my daughter what theme she wants for her birthday party. I ask her WAY in advance so I have plenty time to plan and create. For her 2021 birthday she choose Minnie Mouse. Since 2020 was cancelled and we're still, sort of, living the pandemic lifestyle I want to throw her the best birthday party while taking into consideration appropriate safety precautions. 

We had a total of nine kids including our kiddo. All the kids were in the same school and most were in the same class. I held the party knowing people would have already had lunch and might only want snacks. I did make some snack baskets for each kid using berry baskets but the kids didn't really care, they just picked out what they wanted to snack on. The party started outside but it rained for the majority and the kids played inside while the adults hung out on the covered patio.

I thought the party went really well and I was so happy that she was able to have friends over and things resembled some normalcy.

Normally I would have gone really big on food and done everything with a "Minnie" theme, like Minnie Corn Dogs, Minnie Carrots, Minnie Water Bottles...etc. But it wasn't the year for that.

Daughter's 1st Birthday

Alana's first birthday party was a few Saturday's ago and here are all the details on the decorations!

I bought most of the decor and supplies at Micheal's or Hobby Lobby (mostly Micheal's). And I had a friend help me set it all up for the big day! I ordered some things like balloons, popcorn and her outfits from Etsy. We didn't have a specific theme but we had a color pallet of pink, gold and white. It was so beautiful! I am so happy with how it turned out and that everyone got to come a celebrate with our little one!

For food we kept it pretty simple with sandwiches, chips, dips and finger foods. And then we had the dessert/candy bar! I have always love the look of these so I was excited to have one of my own. With the colors of pink and gold I did some candy shopping during valentines day to collect the pink kisses. Gold was easy with Reese's and Rolos. And to add something unique to the table I bought some pink and gold-ish caramel popcorn from Etsy. And besides the candy we had amazing cookies from Oh! Sugar, chocolate covered strawberries and rice krispies drizzled with white and pink chocolate and gold sprinkles.

I did a lot of Target Dollar Spot shopping over valentines day to get pink and gold items, a deal I found was this little gold gift bags that were already covered in gold glitter. I just added "thank you" to the bag and let people fill them with treats. I of course ended up with A LOT of extra candy.

I loved the party and decor! I think I did a pretty good job! :)

A Travel Themed Baby Shower

Welcome to the World

If you were a reader from travel mi amor then you know I HAD to have a travel themed baby shower. The theme was Welcome to the World!

Lets start with the crafts:

1 - Mod Podge Kleenex boxes and letters. Except we didn't use mod podge, my mom found out that using Elmer's Clear Glue (not gel) works just as well as mod podge; and its cheaper! We just painted the maps onto the Kleenex boxes and cardboard letters. They looked perfect!

2 - The 'Welcome' wreath was made by my best friend and co-host of the shower. I had seen many of these wreathes on Pinterest using wrapping paper for the holiday season. It turned out great and I LOVE it! Here is the tutorial she used.

3 - The food labels and gift tags were made by me using my Silhouette. This machine is pretty cool! If you're cleaver enough you can design your own designs or you can purchase some from the design studio.

4 - We also made some banners out of maps. This was pretty easy since we just cut out some triangle and strung them together with twine.

The food was one of the coolest things out everything I think! We had food from some of favorite countries!

And as a 'Thank You' to everyone that came I had little boxes filled with European chocolates and cookies! 

I absolutely LOVED my baby shower! Thank you so much to my friend Ashley, my mom and my mother-in-law for hosting and putting it together!
